Tidus is a character from the Final Fantasy X videogame.

It would do this young man a lot of good if someone would just sit down and explain to him what the heck is going on. Or, on the other hand, maybe it wouldn’t, really. The truth, when it comes, is probably going to hurt.

His life as a rising star for the Zanarkand Abes blitzball squad was going just fine, despite the lingering scars of a rough upbringing from his domineering father. Then, a giant monster attacked in the middle of a match, which -- as giant monster attacks are wont to do -- threw matters into no small amount of chaos. The arrival of this thing, called “Sin” by Tidus’ sometime friend Auron, suddenly transported Tidus into another world, one where his former home of Zanarkand is now a monster-haunted ruin.

So is this the past, the future, another dimension, or just a dream? Existential questions aside, he has his hands full with his new occupation as a Guardian to the summoner Yuna, a young woman who he finds himself drawn to as he aids her in her travels around the world of Spira.

Tidus may act the stereotype of a dumb jock from time to time, but he finds his way to becoming an able leader over the course of Yuna’s quest. His optimism proves invaluable to keeping her spirits up – which is more important than he knows, since he doesn’t know the whole truth about what a summoner’s pilgrimage entails.
